Bangalore - Weekend trip - Pondicherry
Pondicherry is about 290 Kms from Bangalore.It is a nice place to visit,esp during the winter.Drive down Hosur road till Krishnagiri,it is a part of NHAI(Golden Quadrilateral project) .From Krishnagiri take a left off the main highway (roadsigns mark the route),towards Chennai and immediate right then join the National Highway to Pondicherry. Beautiful roads all the way to Pondy.Towns enroute are Uttanagarai, Chengam, Tiruvanamalai, Tindivanam. Gingee fort, is also on the way and a worth spending some time. It is a Archealogical survey of India (ASI)Heritage site.The total travel time should be about 5-6 hours.

Nisargadhama is a breathtakingingly beautiful island off the state highway, two km from Kushalanagar town and 28 km from Madikeri.In olden days, tigers used to come to this lake to drink water. Henceforth, this lake came to be known as Pilikula Nisargadhama.Pilikula literally means Tiger's lake.The 64-acre island, surrounded by the Cauvery river, can be accessed by walking across a hanging bridge. Elephant rides and boating are some of the other attractions.Nisargadhama has now become the hotspot for people who are looking forward to enjoy scenic beauty & peace.

Thadiyandamol is the highest peak in Coorg at an altitude of 6870 feet. It is around 34 km from Madikere.Its a beautiful place for trekking & can be covered in to six to eight hours..This trek is probably one of the most varied and dramatic treks one can do in Coorg. It includes native forest, high grasslands, ridge walking, mountain, paddy and coffee plantation terrain with huge views throughout the trek.

Bangalore - Weekend trip - Nandi Hills
Nandi Hills is about 60 kms from Bangalore. It is also known as Nandidurga, it was one of the summer retreats of Tipu Sultan.It is a very beautiful place with nature around you at the highest level of about 1478 mtrs and about 3940 ft above sea level.On the top of the hill, there are temples dedicated to Sri Ugra Narasimha and Sri Yoga Narasimha.On the lower hill there is a temple dedicated to Sri Bhoga Narasimha.Its best if you are on top of the hill before sunrise. The wind, fog and clouds that blow towards you in the morning is just amazing.There are two roads to the top one that goes through Chikballapur and the other that goes through Doddaballapur.

The Ranganathittu Bird sanctuary is 125 km from Bangalore and 25 km away from Mysore.Six tiny islands in the river Cauvery are home to this bird sanctuary.The abundance of aquatic insects and fish in the area make it an ideal place for birds.In the year 1999-2000 the sanctuary had a record 1,400 painted storks visiting the area. Kingfishers and peacocks are also spotted here.The large number of birds at the sanctuary appears to have attracted a sizable number of tourists as well.Boats are available at the sanctuary to take the tourists for a ride along the river and the islets, where they can witness trees full of beautiful birds of myriad varieties. Most of the oarsmen are also excellent guides and can provide tourists the exact location as to where the birds may be spotted. The Kaveri riverbank also offers excellent spots for picnics.

Shivanasamudram is 130 kms from Bangalore.They are formed on the Kaveri river.A little distance before the falls, the river splits into two, forming an island. The two streams falls down to the same point and flows downstream. The two falls are called Gagana Chukki (90 metres) & Bhara Chukki (69 metres). From Bangalore, you can drive along the newly constructed Bangalore Mysore Expressway road till Maddur. Immediately after Maddur Bus station, take a left towards Malvalli. Keep going further straight from Malavalli and you'll reach Shivanasamudram.

Nagarhole National Park is located 220 km from Bangalore. The place derives its name from the winding river - Nagarhole meaning "snake river" - which flows through the park. The 640 sq km of gently undulating terrain at the foothills of the Brahmagiri hills is covered with thick tropical forest, grassy swamps and numerous rivers and streams. The park and animal life is part of the country's first "bio-sphere reserve". Nagarhole National Park is counted among India's best wildlife parks. It has a large elephant and bison population. It also hosts a variety of animal species along with approximately 250 species of birds. On its northern confines is the Kabini River and on its southern fringes is the Bandipur national park. A dam on the Kabini River and its picturesque reservoir demarcates the two national parks. During the dry season (February. June), this artificial lake attracts a large number of animals, making it an ideal spot for sighting wildlife.
Nagarhole National park is well connected to adjoining areas of Karnataka. Motorable highways link the park to the towns of Madikere (90 km) and Mysore (96 km) . The journey from both places lasts approximately 2 hours. The nearest well-connected railway junction is Mysore, while the nearest international airport is Bangalore (220 km).

Bangalore - Weekend trips - Pearl Valley(Muthyala Maduvu), Bangalore
Pearl Valley((Muthyala Maduvu), a popular picnic spot not too far from Bangalore.It is a beautiful sight with two waterfalls there and lots of scenic beauty. It is an hours drive from Bangalore and must be almost 40kms. Its in the periphery of Banneraghatta National Park. To reach the place, head out on Banneraghatta Road, continue beyond Banneraghatta National Park and reach Anekal. Take a right from Anekal and drive for an other 10 minutes to reach the valley.
