Shravanbelgola is an important Jain pilgrim center, located 157 Kms from Bangalore. It has a 17 meters high monolithic statue of Lord Bahubali. The symmetry in stone was created around 983 AD by Chamundraya. Mahamastakabhisheka is a ceremony held once in every 12 years where the statue is anointed with milk, curds, ghee, saffron and gold coins.
Shravanabelagola is well-known for its senic beauty as well as for its religious sanctity. Some villages in te neighbourhood of Shravanabelagola like Halebelagola also contaion several Jaina temples. But the more prominent of them are the villages of Jinanathapura and Kambadahalli which contains Jaina monuments of considerable antiquity.Jinanathapura is about 1.6 Km to the north of Shravanabelagola & Kambadahalli is about a 1.5 Km to the south.
